Cybersecurity Tabletop Exercises

Practice the Decisions
Before the Incident Is Real

A written incident-response plan is important. But during an actual cyberattack, people still have to make decisions, communicate, coordinate, and act under pressure.

ANJOLEN’s Cybersecurity Tabletop Exercises give leaders and key personnel an opportunity to work through a realistic cyber incident in a controlled environment—before they have to do it for real.

TURN PLANS INTO ACTION

How Would Your
Organization Respond?

A tabletop exercise is a facilitated, discussion-based simulation.

ANJOLEN develops a realistic scenario around your organization’s risks, operations, industry, and existing response plans. Participants are then presented with an evolving incident and asked to determine how the organization would respond.

Potential scenarios can include ransomware, business email compromise, data theft, cloud-service disruption, third-party compromise, and other organization-specific incidents.

No systems are attacked and no production environment is modified.

Bring the Right People to the Table

Cyber incidents rarely remain an IT problem. Depending on the scenario, participants may include IT and security, executive leadership, legal, compliance, human resources, communications, operations, finance, business continuity personnel, and other key decision-makers. The exercise can explore detection, escalation, containment, recovery, business continuity, legal considerations, regulatory notifications, customer communication, cyber insurance, law enforcement, vendors, and other response decisions.

A Scenario That Evolves

ANJOLEN facilitators introduce new information throughout the exercise to simulate how a real incident develops. Participants may need to determine who has authority to make decisions, when to activate the incident-response plan, who needs to be notified, whether operations can continue, what to tell customers, when legal counsel or the insurance carrier should become involved, and what happens if the incident gets worse. These discussions reveal assumptions and gaps that can remain hidden in written plans.

Learn Without the Pressure of a Real Incident

The purpose of a tabletop exercise isn’t to catch people making mistakes. It creates a safe environment to identify unclear responsibilities, communication gaps, missing procedures, dependencies, and difficult decisions while there is still time to improve them.

From Exercise to Improvement

Following the exercise, ANJOLEN can document key observations, strengths, gaps, and prioritized recommendations. Those findings can be used to improve incident-response plans, communication procedures, escalation paths, training, and broader organizational resilience.
